Indians should be able to search for information online the same way they live: moving between multiple languages depending on the moment or the audience. For example, you may search for “samachar” in English, but you would rather be better served with results for a Hindi query “समाचार”
Now it’s easier to switch between English and Hindi with the launch of a new tab on Google Search for mobile. Available in States with significant Hindi-speaking populations, this new feature gives you a way to flip between English and Hindi when using the Google Search app and Google Search on most browsers on your Android or iOS mobile phone.
This works not just for “Samachar” but all queries. For example, if you’d like to ask questions about your favorite movies or celebrities, from “Dil Chahta Hai” or “Dhoni ka janam din kab hai?”, you can type them in English and then flip the tabs to read the answers in Hindi.
Users can also now look up health related information and view the results in Hindi.
This new tab search feature has just started rolling out for Mobile users (on all browsers except UCBrowser and Opera Mini) in Bihar, Chattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Delhi and West Bengal and will improve over time. We hope that you enjoy using this feature and it helps you find the best results.
