Building a stronger foundation for Computer Science in India
In 2013 we took an initiative to try to make programming fun and easy to learn for school children in India. It came through in the form of Code to Learn competition where students used Scratch - a programming language developed by the MIT Media Lab to create stories, games, cartoons and various other kinds of projects.
This year again, Google India invites school students from classes 5 to 10 from all over India to explore Scratch and develop projects on it. Students in classes 7 to 10 can develop their projects in Scratch but are also welcome to choose MIT App Inventor, Javascript or Python. Google's engineers shall judge the project submissions. There are some cool prizes to be won at the end of the contest.
If you would like to promote the contest at your school or community, feel free to download the contest posters from this link.
