Just brought home a new Chromebook? Lucky you. Chromebooks are designed to help you get things done faster and easier — even when you don’t have an Internet connection. Here are five ideas to keep you going:
Write emails and stay in touch. You can read, respond, search and archive your emails with Gmail Offline. After first start-up, Gmail Offline will automatically synchronize messages and queued actions anytime Chrome is running and an Internet connection is available.
View, create and edit documents. The Google Drive app allows you to view and edit Google Docs, Slides and Drawings files as well as view Google Sheets files offline. You’ll need a connection to first set up offline access then you’re good to go. Chromebooks also come with Quickoffice built-in so you can open and edit some types of Office documents.
View and edit photos. Your Chromebook comes with a built-in photo editor, so you can view and edit photos that are saved locally. In the Chrome Web Store you can find a range of other photo editing tools like Pixlr Touch Up and Pengi Paint.
Take notes. With Google Keep, you'll be able to take and save short notes that will be synced to the cloud the next time you're connected to the Internet. Some of the other note taking apps you can use are Wunderlist and Nitro.
