Xth grader Gayatri Ketharaman from Pune !!!
With thousands of entries from over 100 cities we finally have this year’s India Doodle4Google (D4G) winner! Xth grader Gayatri Ketharaman’s doodle will be featured on the Google India homepage on November 14 to celebrate Children’s Day.
Gayatri Ketharaman, who attends The Bishop's Co-Ed School, Pune, submitted her design around this year’s theme, ‘Celebrating Indian Women’. Gayatri’s doodle artfully depicts the multi-faceted Indian Women - graceful and elegant, adept at balancing work and home. Gayatri felt that the Indian women is not just a go getter, she personifies motherhood and is courageous even in the face of adversity.
This year’s jury – reputed actor Kirron Kher and political cartoonist Ajit Ninan – had a mammoth task at hand; to choose the national winner along with the Google doodle team.
We are overwhelmed to see great participation from young children and schools year-on-year since 2009. The designs for this year’s theme “Celebrating Indian Women” were incredibly creative across all grade groups. In addition to selecting Gayatri Ketharaman as the national winner, public votes helped us determine the three group winners:
Grades 1-3: Madhuram Vatsal (Group I) from St. Francis's College, Lucknow won the group prize for his doodle titled ‘Celebrating Indian Women’
Grades 4-6: Binita Biswajeeta (Group II) from D.A.V Public School, Balasore, Odissa won the prize for his doodle titled ‘Women Are Future, Empower Them Better’.
Grades 7-10: Akash Shetty (Group III) from St Aloysius High School, Mangalore won the prize for her doodle titled ‘Indian Women Leading Our Country’.
We announced the winners today in a fun-filled event at Delhi, where all the finalists were treated to a unique Google experience as they gathered around to crown and cheer the winners. Check out some pictures from the event on our Google India + page event to see all the fun we had!
Thanks to all of you who voted and helped us select this year’s winner. And a bigger thank you to the students and parents from across India who submitted doodles. We’ll be back in 2014; till then, keep doodling - who knows, your child could be the next winner!
